कुंभ के चार पवित्र स्थान

प्रयागराज — तीर्थराज

नदी: त्रिवेणी संगम — गंगा, यमुना और अदृश्य सरस्वती का एकाकार संगम। चक्र: वृषभ में गुरु, मकर में सूर्य-चंद्र।

शास्त्रों में प्रयाग को तीर्थराज कहा गया है — वह राजा जिसके सामने अन्य सभी तीर्थ नतमस्तक होते हैं। यहाँ ब्रह्मा ने सृष्टि का प्रथम यज्ञ किया था; यहाँ बालू पर कल्पवास का एक माह का व्रत युगों की तपस्या के समान माना जाता है। 2025 का महाकुंभ — 144 वर्षों में एक बार आने वाला महापर्व — 660 मिलियन से अधिक श्रद्धालुओं को आकर्षित कर चुका है, जो मानव इतिहास का सबसे बड़ा जनसमूह था।

दर्शन का लाभ: संगम स्नान अनगिनत जन्मों के कर्मों को धो देता है; कुंभ के अतिरिक्त भी, संकल्प के साथ संगम में लगाई गई एक डुबकी नई शुरुआत — नए उद्यमों, नए व्रतों और जीवन के नए अध्यायों के लिए शास्त्रीय उपाय है।

प्रयागराज में अगला कुंभ: यह चक्र 2030 के दशक में लौटेगा — इसका माघ मेला बिना रुके हर जनवरी में आयोजित होता है।

हरिद्वार — हरि का द्वार

नदी: गंगा, मैदानों में अपने प्रवेश द्वार पर। चक्र: कुंभ में गुरु, मेष में सूर्य। अगला: अर्ध कुंभ, 14 जनवरी – 20 अप्रैल 2027।

सात मोक्ष-पुरियों में से एक, जो बद्री-केदार और मोक्ष दोनों का समान रूप से द्वार है। अमृत की बूँदें ब्रह्मा कुंड, हर की पौड़ी पर गिरी थीं, जहाँ भगवान विष्णु के चरण-चिह्न स्थापित हैं और जहाँ सायं कालीन गंगा आरती सदियों से अखंड रूप से प्रज्वलित है। कनखल स्थित दक्ष की यज्ञ-भूमि इस नगरी को शिव के सबसे प्राचीन शोक और अनुग्रह से जोड़ती है।

Benefit of visiting: Ganga at Haridwar is snana-mukti water — the bath of release. Pilgrims bring their beginnings (mundan, janeu) and their endings (asthi-visarjan) to the same ghats: the whole arc of life is sanctified here.

Nashik-Trimbakeshwar — Rama's River

River: Godavari, the Dakshina Ganga, born on Brahmagiri. Cycle: Guru in Simha — the Simhastha. Next: Amrit Snans Aug–Sep 2027.

The only Kumbh with two capitals: Ramkund in Nashik's Panchavati — the exile-home of Shri Rama, Sita and Lakshmana — and Kushavarta Kund beside the Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga, where the Godavari emerges. Ramayana and Jyotirlinga in one sacred field.

Benefit of visiting: the Godavari at Nashik is Bharat's foremost water for the ancestors — pitru-karya, shraddha and asthi-visarjan; the Simhastha snan is held to free both the bather and their lineage.

Ujjain — the City of Mahakal

River: Shipra. Cycle: Guru in Simha, Surya in Mesha — the Simhastha. Next: 27 Mar – 27 May 2028.

Avantika, Moksha-puri and the zero-meridian of Hindu astronomy, ruled forever by Mahakaleshwar — the south-facing Jyotirlinga of Time. Kal Bhairav guards its gates, Harsiddhi Shakti Peeth blazes at its heart, and Krishna himself studied here at Sandipani's ashram.

Benefit of visiting: Ujjain is where one makes peace with time — graha-shanti on the Shipra ghats, freedom from the fear of death in Mahakal's darshan, and the Bhasma Aarti's daily reminder that all things return to sacred ash.
